How To Make A Dual-Extract Tincture

Step 1 – The Alcohol Extraction

Take the calculated amounts of dried mushroom powder and alcohol and mix the two ingredients in a mason jar. Place the jar in a dark place and let it sit for 6-8 weeks.

Step 2 – Strain And Separate

Now that you’ve waited patiently it’s time to strain your liquid and squeeze out any remaining alcohol from your mushroom powder. Use a cheesecloth or coffee filter to press out the remaining moisture.

Step 3 – Water Bath Extraction

Place the strained mushroom powders into a pot and add the calculated amount of distilled water. Simmer the solution for 2 hours on low heat and then strain again.

Step 4 – Mixing The Extractions

Now that you have dual-extracted your mushroom powders you can mix the two solutions together. The end results will be a tincture that is roughly 20-24% alcohol content. Which means it will be shelf stable for some time.
