Product Details

King Blue Oyster Commercial Liquid Culture (200ml)

Produce king blue oyster mushrooms at commercial volume with this 200ml liquid culture jar. King blue oyster is a Pleurotus ostreatus hybrid bred by Andrew Reed of Mossy Creek Mushrooms in Tennessee — a cross between a blue oyster and a white elm oyster — that fruits in dense, heavy clusters with thick stems and excellent post-harvest shelf life: traits that matter when you are selling at market or supplying restaurants. Lab-isolated genetics, produced in Canada at our CFIA-licensed facility in Brantford, Ontario.

What's Included

  • One 200ml mason jar with live king blue oyster mycelium in sterile honey-water medium
  • Self-healing injection port for sterile, repeated culture draws
  • Synthetic filter cap for gas exchange during storage and transport
  • Lab-isolated hybrid genetics — selected for commercial performance

How to Use

Use a sterile syringe to draw culture through the self-healing injection port. A single 200ml jar provides enough culture to inoculate a full production batch of grain jars or grow bags.

  • Sterilize the injection port with isopropyl alcohol before each draw
  • Use a sterile 18-gauge needle and syringe
  • Inject 2-5ml into each grain jar or spawn bag
  • Gently swirl the jar before drawing to suspend mycelium

Species Profile

King blue oyster was the first cross created by Mossy Creek Mushrooms: a blue oyster crossed with a white elm oyster, combining blue colouring with the elm's large, thick stems. The clusters are dense and nearly uniform in texture from cap to stem, so trim waste at the pack table is minimal. The flesh is firm and meaty, holds up during transport and display, and keeps a strong shelf life. It tolerates a wide temperature range but performs best below about 29°C — protect fruiting rooms from heat spikes and fungus gnats to avoid bacterial blotch. An excellent dual-purpose variety for farms that sell both fresh and value-added products.

Why Commercial Size

Running a commercial grow operation means every batch needs to perform. The 200ml format lets you inoculate an entire production run from one genetically uniform source. The self-healing injection port supports many draws without compromising sterility, and the sealed jar format is easy to store until your next production cycle.

Pair with our king blue oyster spawn cases and commercial grow bags for streamlined production.
