Andrew Langevin

Mycologist · Author · Founder of Nature Lion Inc

Brantford, Ontario, Canada

Andrew Langevin is the founder and CEO of Nature Lion Inc, a CFIA-licensed mushroom cultivation supply company based in Brantford, Ontario. Since founding the company in 2020, Andrew has overseen the production and shipment of over 50,000 orders of mushroom spawn, grow kits, liquid cultures, and functional mushroom products to customers across Canada.

Andrew is a contributing author in Mushroomology (Brill, 2026), a comprehensive scientific textbook on mushroom biology featuring 30 chapters and 860 pages. His chapter — Chapter 29: Introduction to Home Growing Mushrooms — sits alongside contributions from leading mycologists, the majority of whom hold PhDs. The book is edited by Prof. Jianping Xu of McMaster University, Prof. Dapeng Bao, and Prof. Timothy James.

Andrew's expertise spans the full spectrum of mushroom cultivation: from agar isolation and liquid culture production to grain spawn manufacturing and commercial-scale fruiting. He built Nature Lion's HEPA-filtered cleanroom laboratory and developed the company's genetic library of over 25 verified mushroom strains.

Through Nature Lion, Andrew also operates one of Canada's only CFIA-licensed private label manufacturing facilities for functional mushroom products — producing custom drink mixes, powders, and blends for brands across North America.
