Pink Oyster Mushroom Spawn – 5 lb Bag

Pink Oyster (Pleurotus djamor) is one of the most eye-catching mushrooms you can grow. With vibrant pink clusters, a meaty texture, and a flavour often compared to bacon or ham when cooked, this tropical species is a guaranteed conversation starter at farmers markets and in restaurant kitchens. It is also one of the fastest colonizing species available, making it a favourite among growers who want quick turnarounds.

Why Growers Choose Pink Oyster

  • Stunning visual appeal – Bright pink clusters stand out at market and command premium prices from curious customers.
  • Extremely fast colonization – Among the fastest grain spawn species to colonize substrate, reducing time from inoculation to harvest.
  • Warm-weather producer – Thrives in summer heat when cold-loving species slow down, filling a seasonal gap in your production calendar.
  • Unique flavour profile – Meaty, savoury taste appeals to chefs and home cooks looking for something different.

What You Get

Each 5 lb bag contains fully colonized organic millet grain spawn produced in-house at our CFIA-licensed facility in Brantford, Ontario. All genetics are lab-tested for purity and vigour before production. Because Pink Oyster spawn has a shorter shelf life than temperate species, we produce in small batches to ensure freshness.

How to Use

Mix spawn into pasteurized straw or supplemented hardwood sawdust at a 10–15% rate. Pink Oyster colonizes aggressively, so you can often see full colonization in under two weeks at warm temperatures. Pack inoculated substrate into grow bags or buckets and maintain 24–27°C during colonization. Introduce fruiting conditions once the substrate is fully white. Note that Pink Oyster is cold-sensitive and should not be refrigerated.

Growing Conditions

  • Fruiting temperature: 18–30°C (64–86°F)
  • Humidity: 85–95% RH during fruiting
  • Light: Indirect ambient or 12-hour lighting cycle
  • Fresh air: Moderate to high air exchange
  • Substrates: Pasteurized straw, hardwood sawdust

Balance your seasonal production with cold-weather species like our Blue Oyster Mushroom Spawn. Need to start cultures from scratch? Check out our pre-made agar plates.

Inoculated 14 days ago on pasteurized straw in 20 litre buckets, Pink Oyster clusters roughly 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter are showing and growing well, with gills showing under the tiny caps. Am absolutely delighted with the results with many thanks to the folks at Nature Lion...

Fast colonizing pink oyster spawn! Perfect for warm weather grows. The 3.5 pound bag gave me enough spawn for several buckets. Great value for mushroom cultivators.
