Mushroom Grow Bags Canada - Medium 0.5 Micron Filter Patch (5" x 5" x 20")

Quality mushroom grow bags are the foundation of successful cultivation. A weak bag leads to contamination, wasted substrate, and lost time. The Satrise Medium Filter Patch Bag gives you commercial-grade performance comparable to Unicorn 10A bags, shipped from Brantford, Ontario with no cross-border delays or brokerage fees. Whether you are producing grain spawn, supplemented sawdust fruiting blocks, or all-in-one grows, these autoclavable grow bags deliver reliable results batch after batch.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 5" x 5" x 20" (13 x 12 x 50 cm)
  • Material: 0.08 mm (3 mil) polypropylene
  • Filter: 0.5 micron filter patch
  • Capacity: approximately 2-3 lbs of substrate
  • Heat tolerance: autoclavable at 15 PSI / 121 C (250 F)
  • Design: gusseted sides, strong bottom seal
  • Comparable to: Unicorn 10A bags

What Makes These Different

The 0.5 micron filter patch is the key feature that separates professional mushroom cultivation bags from cheap alternatives. It blocks mold spores, bacteria, and fungal competitors while still allowing the gas exchange your mycelium needs to colonize quickly. The thick 3 mil polypropylene construction handles repeated sterilization cycles at 15 PSI without warping, melting, or developing weak spots. The gusseted design lets bags stand upright when filled and fold flat for compact storage.

Unlike generic bags from hardware stores, these are purpose-built for mushroom cultivation. The bottom seal withstands the weight of hydrated substrate, the agitation of mixing spawn, and the handling of moving blocks through your grow room. The filter patch stays firmly bonded through pressure cooking and does not peel off during sterilization.

Ideal Uses

  • Grain spawn production: fill with sterilized millet, rye, or wheat for reliable mushroom spawn production
  • Supplemented sawdust blocks: 2-3 lb fruiting blocks of hardwood sawdust with wheat bran or soy hulls, perfect for oyster, lion's mane, shiitake, and chestnut mushrooms
  • All-in-one grows: layer grain over mushroom substrate in a single bag for simplified cultivation
  • Straw logs: pasteurized straw packed into uniform logs for oyster mushroom production

How to Use

Prepare and fill

Add 2-3 lbs of prepared substrate to the bag, leaving enough headspace at the top for folding and sealing. For post-sterilization inoculation, create a small well in the centre of the substrate.

Sterilize

Fold the top of the bag down twice, tucking it between the gussets to create a contamination barrier. Load bags upright in your pressure cooker or autoclave with at least 1 inch between bags for steam circulation. Never let bags touch the bottom or sides directly. Sterilize at 15 PSI for 90-120 minutes.

Cool and inoculate

Allow bags to cool in the sterilizer for at least 8 hours. Working in front of a laminar flow hood or inside a still air box, open the bag, add your mushroom spawn or liquid culture, and mix thoroughly by kneading the outside of the bag.

Seal and incubate

Seal with an impulse heat sealer, bag clamps, or zip ties. Store in a clean, dark space at 20-24 C. Colonization typically takes 2-4 weeks depending on spawn ratio and species.
