Product Details

Black Poplar (Pioppino) Commercial Liquid Culture (200ml)

Scale your black poplar (Cyclocybe aegerita also known as Pioppino) production with this 200ml commercial liquid culture jar. Black poplar, also known as pioppino, is a prized gourmet mushroom with a firm, almost crunchy texture that holds up beautifully in cooking. This jar gives you lab-isolated genetics in a format designed for repeated sterile draws across large production batches. Made in Canada at our CFIA-licensed facility in Brantford, Ontario.

What's Included

  • One 200ml mason jar with live black poplar mycelium in sterile honey-water medium
  • Self-healing injection port for clean, repeated culture draws
  • Synthetic filter cap for continuous gas exchange
  • Lab-isolated Cyclocybe aegerita genetics

How to Use

Draw culture through the self-healing injection port using a sterile syringe. One 200ml jar provides enough culture to inoculate a full production run of grain jars or grow bags.

  • Wipe the injection port with isopropyl alcohol before every draw
  • Use a sterile 18-gauge needle and syringe
  • Inject 2-5ml per grain jar or spawn bag
  • Swirl the jar gently before drawing to ensure even mycelium distribution

Species Profile

Black poplar, also known as pioppino, is a prized gourmet mushroom with a firm, almost crunchy texture that holds up beautifully in cooking. It grows in dense clusters on hardwood logs and supplemented sawdust, and is popular with chefs for its nutty, slightly peppery flavor. It fruits at moderate temperatures and produces well on supplemented hardwood substrate.

Growing Parameters

  • Scientific name: Cyclocybe aegerita
  • Fruiting temperature: moderate (15-22°C)
  • Recommended substrate: hardwood sawdust, supplemented hardwood

Why Commercial Size

The 200ml jar format lets you maintain genetic consistency across your entire spawn production line. One jar replaces dozens of individual syringes, and the self-healing injection port allows repeated draws without opening the jar — keeping contamination risk low and throughput high.

Build your production workflow with our grain spawn and commercial grow bags.
