How to Mist a Mushroom Grow Kit
For Nature Lion kits, gently mist underneath the X flaps 2–3 times a day until mushrooms sprout. Lion’s Mane also needs its humidity tent.

Before mushrooms appear
Use the spray bottle included with your kit, filled with clean water. The aim is a damp growing surface, not a soaked box.
Lift the flaps gently
Lift the plastic flaps of the X just enough to reach the exposed block.
Mist underneath
Spray a gentle mist across the exposed surface. Stop when it is damp; don’t leave water pooling in the cut.
Lay the flaps back down
The flaps help hold moisture at the opening. Keep them attached.
Repeat 2–3 times each day
Check in the morning and evening, with a third check during the day. If it dries very quickly, check for direct sun, a heater or an air vent.

Lion’s Mane only: use the included humidity tent
Lion’s Mane is the only Nature Lion kit supplied with a humidity tent. The tent is a loose cover that helps keep the air around the mushrooms moist.
Make a few air openings
Cut a few slits in the tent before putting it over the kit.
Drape it loosely over the box
Leave room around the growing opening. Don’t seal the tent around the bottom or press it against the mushrooms.
Mist the inside 2–3 times a day
Mist the inside walls of the tent to keep them moist, then put it back over the kit. Continue the gentle care of the block’s opening while you wait for mushrooms. Avoid soaking the mushrooms themselves.
Once mushrooms grow, give them a daily air break
Take the tent off for 1–2 hours once a day, then replace it. Keep the kit away from a drying fan or heater during the break.

Once tiny mushrooms appear
Those little bumps or baby caps are called pins. Stop scraping and leave them attached. Let the mushrooms push through the opening; don’t force the plastic flaps over them or keep lifting flaps that catch on the cluster.
Keep checking 2–3 times a day. Gently mist any exposed block surface that needs moisture without soaking the developing mushrooms. Once mushrooms start growing, check their harvest cues every day.

Too dry or too wet?
A surface that looks dry again soon after misting may need a gentler location away from moving hot or cold air. Move it away from the draft and continue your normal checks.
If water sits in the opening or keeps running down the box, use less water per session. Don’t try to make up for a missed misting with a long soak. Contact us if baby mushrooms look shrivelled or stop changing.
