Mushroom Grow Kit Types: Which Do You Have?

There is a living mushroom block inside a bag, held in a cardboard box. Open the back growing window and follow our X-cut setup instructions. Keep the bag and box around the block while it grows.

Ready-to-fruit means the mushroom has already grown through the material inside. Some blocks grow from a side opening; others grow from the top or need their wrapping removed. Read the supplier’s instructions before cutting or unwrapping.

A shiitake block may need a different preparation routine, including waiting for the block to mature. Use the shiitake guide and the instructions supplied with it.

If your bag needs a syringe of mushroom culture, it is not at the same stage as a ready-to-grow Nature Lion kit. The mushroom must first grow through the bag. Follow its instructions for adding mushroom culture and waiting; opening it early can spoil the grow.

Wooden logs and outdoor beds grow on a different schedule. They are not opened or misted like a boxed kitchen kit. Start with a guide for that method.
